Raymond Lamar Henriksen Jr.
July 1, 1952 – March 6, 2009

Raymond Lamar Henriksen Jr. passed away Friday night, March 6, 2009; he was 56 years old. He is survived by his mom and dad, Ray Henriksen Sr. and Carolyn Henriksen; his brothers and sisters, Michael Henriksen Sr., Deborah (David) Peterson, Brett Henriksen, Tammy (Glen) Curtis; and his four children, Tara, Ray III, Kyle and Miranda Henriksen. Ray also leaves behind a host of other family members, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ray was born in Huntington Park, Calif., July 1, 1952, and has been a resident of Nevada for 43 years. Ray was an active member of the LDS church and held many church callings throughout his life. Ray achieved his Eagle Scout when he was 15 years old. He also earned his Duty to God award. He served a French speaking Mission in Quebec from 1974 to 1976. He attended Dixie College, where he earned his associates degree. He was a journeyman latherer in Lathers Local 480, and later became a journeyman carpenter in the Local 1780.

Ray married his sweetheart, Virginia Dare Belcher in 1979 in the Salt Lake Temple, and their four children were all born and raised in Las Vegas. He was the secretary of Wild West Construction from 1989 to 1992. Ray was founder and chairman of the Nevada Youth Football League, and donated his time to serving the children of Las Vegas. In addition to his love for football, he loved theater, music, art and movies. Friends and family will always remember him for his devotion to his family, his service to the church and his unwavering faith in God.

The funeral will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 8525 Thom St. in Las Vegas. Public viewings will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., and again at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 13, at the church, with funeral services commencing at 10:30 a.m.
